Prof Gillian Gould

Professor Gillian Gould is a Public Health Researcher, Tobacco Treatment Specialist, and General Practitioner dedicated to improving the health of First Nations communities in Australia. She is Professor of Health Equity at Southern Cross University (Gold Coast Campus), where she leads transformative projects including the NHMRC/Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases-funded iSISTAQUIT scale-up to support smoking cessation among pregnant First Nations women, and SISTABIRTH, a Birthing on Country initiative.

Gould is a former co-chair of the GACD Lung Diseases Group and founding co-chair of the Indigenous Populations Working Group, with a research portfolio exceeding $23 million in funding and recognition through over 20 prestigious awards, largely in Indigenous health. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and brings an interdisciplinary lens through her background in arts, drama therapy, media and medicine, and digital communication strategy.
