Much of the current animosity toward Israel has roots in academia. We believe our inaugural Academic Symposium has been an important first step in confronting the false narrative that has flowed from academia into media, politics and mainstream culture. Indigenous Embassy Jerusalem is committed to holding other academic events in 2025 to further build a body of material to confront the lies and strengthen Indigenous identity.

Professor Wayne, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is an archeologist and academic specializing in ancient Near East and Assyriology. He will discuss continuing Jewish life in Israel, from its inception, throughout the centuries. He will show how the Jewish people have kept ‘ahi kaa’, kept the fires of continuous presence in the land of Israel. Wayne will also discuss the ancient artefacts on display at the Auckland Museum, which relate to Israel’s history. Wayne has given several talks while in New Zealand and Kiwis have enjoyed his “down-to-earth”, personable style.

Lilach Horowitz is a child trauma counsellor. She will discuss the important work she has been doing with children and youth since 7 October 2023.
