It is heartening to see that the awareness of the Indigeneity of the Jewish people is growing. According to Google Trends, there has been a steadily rising interest in search combinations such as Israel indigenous, Jewish indigeneity, Palestinian indigeneity, Zionism indigenous, and indigenous Israel. 

I stand before you on the land of my ancestors to say what the prime minister should have said: “Anti-Zionism is a libel-driven hate movement that incites violence and the targeting, exclusion, and marginalization of Jews in the diaspora and has as its ultimate goal wiping Israel off the face of Mother Earth and the death of all beings within it.”

Mansour’s presentation, “Structure of Erasure – Past and Present: Settler Colonialism in Palestine” predictably consisted of a carefully curated one-sided tale of Palestinian victimhood buttressed by cherry picked quotes and devoid of historical or geo-political context.

Two Palestinian academics, Dr Lamma Mansour and Dr Yousef Kamal AlKhoury are currently touring New Zealand for a series of talks, held mostly in Anglican churches, but also in at least one university. They have been presenting one-sided, heavily truncated accounts of the complex Israel-Palestinian conflict. While we acknowledge their right to tell their story, we believe the lack of context and historical depth presents a false, distorted and harmful picture.
