Holocaust Commemoration: The Stories and the Silence

Maya Simon tells the story of her remarkable grandmother. As a 15 year old, she was attacked by Nazis and thrown into the icy river, where she almost died. There and then she determined that she did not belong any more in Czechoslovakia and would go to live in Israel. A year passed before parents relented and allowed her to travel to Israel, where she began a new life on her own.
