Overview of Credit Scholarship/Certificate Program
The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Arizona (UA) is pleased to offer students a chance to participate in a variety of our online courses that focus on Jewish and Israel studies.
These courses are offered at no cost.
Should a participant desire formal, transferable, university credits (undergraduate OR graduate), we can arrange a Credit Scholarship for a one course/three (3) university credit transfer. These credits can be at the Graduate OR Undergraduate level.
The conditions for the Credit Scholarship are:
The for-credit course must be JUS/HRTS 462/562 Cultural Heritage and Human Rights course, which is offered as an online, 7.5 -week course every Spring I session (mid-January to the end of February).
The student must then enroll in two additional courses offered by Center for Judaic Studies (as listed below). These will be regular courses offered at the UA, but the student will be joining the remaining two courses as a non-matriculating student participant and these two courses will not be credit-bearing.
The student will NOT be charged for ANY of the three courses.
Note that the UA is an R1 University whose credits are accepted around the world.
The offered courses include:
Modern Israel
Jewish Civilization
Human Rights in Israel
Cultural Heritage and Human Rights (both a Graduate and Undergraduate course)
Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Holocaust Memory (offered in conjunction with Western Gallillee College, Israel. Students must FIRST take the Cultural Heritage and Human Rights course)
Modern Jewish History
History of Antisemitism
The Holocaust and Memory
Academic credits earned under the terms of the Credit Scholarship will be transferable once a student has completed three university courses at the UA in Judaic Studies, as described above.
Whether a student has or has not received the Credit Scholarship described above, ALL participating applicants can receive a certificate from the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies attesting to the fact that they (the participants) completed three University level courses on Jewish and Israel studies.
